After you have finished testing, you can either end your test, or promote your test app to an upcoming version. By promoting your app to an upcoming version, you can make finishing touches such as uploading final screenshots or metadata before going live. If testing multiple binary types, after you finish testing both, you can end your test. If you remove one binary type, you can then use the Promote to Upcoming option. Tests that have ended appear on the Live App Testing (LAT) dashboard under the Past Tests section.

Test new versions of published apps

You can test new versions of published apps by selecting your app in the Amazon Developer Console and clicking Live App Testing from the Actions menu. The first time you create a test version of a published app, binary files and metadata are copied from the live version to create the test version. If necessary, binary files and metadata can then be modified for the test. When you set up a subsequent test, you have the option to copy the binary files and metadata from the current or upcoming version of your app, or copy from the most recently ended test version of the app.

Submit your app directly from Live App Testing

If testing a single binary type, and you are satisfied with your app testing results, you can directly submit your app to be published to the Amazon Appstore. If you have more than one binary type attached to your live app test, the Promote to Upcoming option is not available. To use the option, remove one of the binary types from your test. Alternatively, you can follow the standard app submission process if you have multiple binary types to submit. To directly submit your app
  1. Navigate to your Live App Testing dashboard page.
  2. From the Actions drop-down menu, select Promote to Upcoming.
You must complete any missing metadata for your app, but don’t need to re-upload your binary file. Amazon will email you when your app is live on the Amazon Appstore.

Test management FAQ

The following are frequently asked questions (FAQ) about test management in LAT.
To identify the tester group for corresponding binary type, consider naming the tester group to correlate to a single binary type. For example, you can name the tester group “Vega OS Tester Group 1” for testers testing the VPKG version of your app, and name another tester group “Fire OS Tester Group 2” for testers testing the APK version of your app.
Yes. The Promote to Upcoming option is available if the live app test has only one binary type, for example only an APK or only a VPKG. The option is disabled only if the live app test has multiple binary types.
Ending the test ends the live app test for both APK and VPKG. Testers will no longer have access to the test for either binary type.
