Purpose
The Well-Architected review questionnaires in this section are provided as sample guidance documents to help retailers prepare for operational readiness when integrating with Just Walk Out technology. They are intended to serve as a starting point for evaluating your store implementation across the six pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework:
- Operational Excellence — Monitoring, alerting, retry strategies, and day-to-day operational processes
- Security — Data protection, fraud prevention, API authentication, and PII compliance
- Reliability — Availability SLAs, failover behavior, error recovery, and data integrity
- Performance Efficiency — Latency targets, throughput capacity, caching, and load handling
- Cost Optimization — Per-transaction costs, scaling policies, and infrastructure efficiency
- Sustainability — Resource utilization, data retention, and environmental impact
Important: These Are Samples Only
These questionnaires are samples and are not exhaustive. They should be supplemented with your organization's established operational readiness practices, compliance requirements, and internal review processes. Every retailer's environment, risk tolerance, and regulatory obligations are different — use these as a foundation and adapt them to your specific needs.
Available Review Questionnaires
Each questionnaire is tailored to a specific Just Walk Out store integration model:
| Questionnaire | Store Scenario | Key APIs |
|---|---|---|
| App Entry Store | App-based entry with pre-auth on payment instrument | Verify Identity Keys, Charge Calculation |

| Credit Card Entry Store | Credit card entry with full payment lifecycle delegation | Adjust Charge, Cancel Charge, Capture Charge, Refund, Get Transactional Data, Get Shopper Identity |
How to Use These Questionnaires
- Identify your store model — Determine which integration scenario matches your implementation
- Review each pillar — Work through the questions with your engineering, security, and operations teams
- Document your answers — Record your current state and any gaps identified
- Create action items — For any question where the answer is incomplete or missing, create a remediation plan
- Revisit regularly — Operational readiness is not a one-time exercise; revisit these reviews as your implementation evolves
